Yorkton City Council has unanimously approved the 2025 Concrete Replacement Program, awarding a $443,864 contract to North Star Concrete Inc.
The project will target the replacement of aging sidewalks and curbs, the addition of 18 new pedestrian ramps to enhance accessibility, and the installation of two concrete medians.
Director of Public Works Aron Hershmiller says it is important to keep projects like this up to date.
A recent evaluation found the city’s sidewalks have an average condition index of just 48 out of 100—classified as poor—prompting the city to prioritize concrete upgrades in coordination with ongoing asphalt resurfacing and utility projects. Funding for the work will be drawn from both operational and capital budgets.
Construction is scheduled to begin this season, with ongoing updates available on the city’s website, the Shape Your City platform, and through social media channels.
