Due to ongoing wildfires, the Saskatchewan government has increased financial aid for evacuees registered with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency. Heads of households will now receive $40/day (up from $20), and other members $20/day (up from $10), with a maximum of $200 per day.
As of Friday, 24 wildfires remain active, with 33 communities evacuated. So far in 2025, 251 fires have been reported—well above the five-year average of 141.
“We’re working to return families home safely, but some must remain evacuated while cleanup continues,” said Public Safety Minister Tim McLeod.
The province has provided $15 million to the Canadian Red Cross, which is coordinating with Indigenous leaders and all levels of government to support displaced residents.
Evacuees needing help can contact the SPSA Emergency and Community Support program at 1-855-559-5502. The state of emergency is in place until June 29 and may be extended. Daily wildfire updates will continue.
