The 28th Annual Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer event took place this past weekend at Parkland Mall, raising a total of $6,645.
Of the funds raised, $2,695 will go to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, while The Health Foundation will receive just under $4,000.
Among the donations was a $3,000 contribution from Jerry Witherspoon, raised through proceeds from the J-Mack Demo Derby at last year’s Yorkton Exhibition. Yorkton firefighters also contributed $500, and an additional $450 was allocated by event participants.
Organizers thanked everyone who supported and took part in the event, noting their excitement for next year’s edition, which may feature some changes.
Since launching in 1998, Close Cuts has generated over $1.5 million in support of cancer research and local health initiatives.
