The Yorkton Exhibition is almost here, and the excitement in our house is definitely building! Last night, my youngest convinced us to hop in the car and drive past the fairgrounds just to catch a glimpse of the rides and all the action as everything started arriving. I couldn’t blame him—honestly, when I was his age, I remember that exact feeling of anticipation, counting down the days and hardly able to wait for the thrill of the rides to begin.
Now that I’m older, I’ve noticed my fair favourites have changed. The adrenaline rush of the rides has been traded in for the excitement of the entertainment, the heart-pounding chuckwagon and chariot races, and—let’s be honest—the endless food options that only come around once a year! My ride days might be behind me, but there’s still something magical about strolling the midway after dark, when the lights twinkle overhead, the music floats through the air, and laughter and smiles are everywhere you look.
Whether you’re here for the rides, the shows, the races, or just the classic fair treats, there’s something for everyone at the Yorkton Exhibition. I can’t wait to make more memories with my family and soak in all the sights and sounds. It’s shaping up to be an excellent week—I hope to see you all there!
