A new court date has been set for a Brandon man found guilty of manslaughter in the death of a 2-month-old girl on the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.
In January of 2016, Virden RCMP received a report of an infant in distress at a home on the reserve, and she later died in hospital.
After a lengthy investigation, 34-year-old Keifer Mecas was arrested in January of 2023.
Last Monday in Brandon Court of King’s Bench, Mecas was remanded in custody for his next court date on August 18.
