The Kamsack Victoria School has received a $5,000 donation from Legacy Co-op to support their “Full Bellies = Full Minds” initiative.
The initiative aims to ensure that students have access to nutritious meals, helping them succeed in and out of the classroom.
The donation will go directly towards the renovation of the school’s kitchen. The updated kitchen will allow for expanded meal preparation and service, allowing the school’s nutrition worker to streamline efforts and serve more students more effectively.
The school already offers a variety of nutrition programs, including free breakfasts and lunches for students in need, a universal snack program, and a regular hot lunch option available to all students.
Kendra Simon, the Principal of Victoria School, said she has deep gratitude for the donation.
“This contribution from Legacy Co-op will have a lasting impact on our students,” she said. “Many of our families face food insecurity, and having access to healthy, consistent meals at school makes a world of difference. A renovated kitchen means we’ll be able to prepare more meals with greater efficiency and continue to meet the growing needs of our student body.”
Legacy Co-op’s donation is part of its ongoing commitment to building stronger communities through its community fund, which is 1% of annual net profits, is designated to community capital projects
