When summer arrives, most people can’t wait to go camping, hit the lake, or spend their days lounging by the pool. But my favorite summer activity? Garage sailing!
There’s just something so fun about driving around town from sale to sale. I love the hunt. You know, never knowing what kind of treasure I might find. This little tradition started when I was a kid, tagging along with my grandma. She had a knack for spotting great deals and haggling, and I was always curious to see what people were selling. Every garage sale felt like a little adventure.
Some summers, we’d even host a huge family garage sale at my grandma’s house. Everyone got involved! My grandma, aunts, cousins, my mom, and me. We’d all bring things we didn’t need anymore and set up shop in the garage. It was a team effort, and honestly, a lot of fun. I got to practice my math skills (which mostly meant making change), and I definitely drank way too much pop!
Now, whenever I spend the day garage sailing, it brings back all those great memories. For me, it’s not just about finding bargains. It’s about the joy, the surprises, and the little community moments that make summer special.
So, while I’ll never say no to a beach day or a swim at the pool, nothing makes me smile quite like a good old-fashioned garage sale. Here’s to treasure hunts, happy memories, and the simple joys of summer!
