A 20-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of a 57-year-old man in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation earlier this month.
Swan River RCMP say officers responded to a report of an injured man at a residence in the community at around 12:30 a.m. on July 10.
Police say they, along with EMS, found a 57-year-old man with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP say the death is being investigated as a homicide.
On July 19, officers charged 20-year-old Santana Genaille of Sapotaweyak Cree Nation with second-degree murder. Genaille remains in custody.
Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services continues to investigate.
