A few months back, Chappell Roan dropped her country single, “The Giver,” and it was an instant hit. Went straight to #1 in the US in its first week! And of course, we played it here on GX94 as well! Fans, including me, couldn’t get enough of the single. But as much as they loved it, a lot were already looking forward to her next song, “The Subway,” which she’s been performing live at music festivals since last year and had already gone viral over TikTok.
Recently, Chappell was spotted filming a music video around New York City, and flyers promoting “The Subway” have been popping up all over NYC. On top of that, teasers are up and on her social media pages and fan accounts. But the real surprise? One fan page posted a location that definitely isn’t in New York. It’s the iconic “Welcome to Saskatchewan” sign on the #1 Highway, right on the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border!

One of the catchiest lines in “The Subway” is, “Well, f*** this city, I’m moving to Saskatchewan.” Pretty interesting considering Chappell isn’t from Saskatchewan, or even Canada! She’s actually from Missouri. Still, the shoutout has people everywhere curious about Saskatchewan, and some fans are even planning trips to see what the hype is about. Who would have guessed a single lyric could turn so many heads toward Saskatchewan? This might be the biggest boost for the province’s tourism since the “Experience Regina” song that was featured on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon a few years ago. With all this excitement, we can only hope Chappell Roan pays a visit to Saskatchewan soon…maybe even for a concert??? (fingers crossed!)
Until then, we’ll be waiting to stream “The Subway” officially and watching as Saskatchewan enjoys its time in the spotlight, all thanks to a song that’s got everyone talking.
