Is rain a good thing at this point in the season? Last night, my rain gauge showed just over 1 inch—or about 26mm—of rainfall. It got me wondering, is it too late for this rain to really make a difference for the crops this year? With harvest right around the corner, I know a lot of farmers are hoping for some heat and drier weather to help things finish off and make harvest conditions a bit easier. It would be nice if we could just place an order for the weather we need—some timely sunshine here, a gentle rain there—but that’s not how Mother Nature works. All we can do is take what we get, adapt, and make the best of it. Here’s hoping the weather cooperates for everyone out in the fields as we get closer to harvest!
