Legacy Co-op has unveiled the winning name of its “Name the Fuel Truck” contest, with the community voting to christen the vehicle Gasper.
The announcement came during an event at the Legacy Co-op Yorkton Agro Centre on Aug. 13, where the newly designed fuel truck was rolled out.
The winning name was submitted by Adalynn, who entered the contest by colouring a design sheet and proposing her idea. Her entry was selected by the Legacy Co-op Board of Directors based on creativity, imagination, brand fit and community connection before advancing to a public vote. Gasper quickly emerged as the clear favourite.
Highlights of the unveiling included switching the truck’s front licence plate to reveal its new name, along with a celebratory cake cutting. Adalynn said she was excited to see her design come to life on the road.
While only one truck was chosen this year, Legacy Co-op says its bulk petroleum fleet includes several fuel trucks, meaning the contest will return in future years to give more children the chance to contribute their creativity.
The Co-op is encouraging residents to watch for Gasper as it begins delivering fuel across the region.
