I’m so excited to share that I’ve finished my fourth book of the year! And this one has been waiting and collecting dust on my shelf for at least ten years: The Host by Stephenie Meyer. If you know me, you know I’m a big Twilight fan, so I was really curious to see what else Stephenie Meyer had written. For some reason, though, The Host just kept getting pushed aside, until now! I went in with almost no idea what to expect, and let me tell you, I was NOT prepared for an Invasion of the Body Snatchers vibe with a love triangle thrown in. But you know what? I loved it!
It’s definitely different from the Twilight universe, but in the best way. Meyer created a completely new world, and I found myself totally wrapped up in the story. Now I’m hoping for a sequel, even though the book first came out in 2008! She did say she wanted The Host to be a trilogy, but that was back in 2009. There has been some writing and outlining, but nothing official in over 15 years. I’m still holding out hope!
If you love sci-fi and can’t resist a good love triangle, I really think you’ll enjoy The Host. I haven’t watched the movie yet, I’m a little scared honestly. I almost never like the movie if I’ve read the book first. But for now, I’m just happy to have finally read it after all these years.
Have you read *The Host*? What did you think? And should I be brave and watch the movie, or just let the book be the be all end all? Let me know in the comments below!
