Two people are dead after a vehicle-pedestrian collision east of The Pas late Friday night.
RCMP say officers were called to Highway 60 at about 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 22, around 20 kilometres east of Highway 10.
Police found two deceased individuals at the scene — a 29-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both from Chemawawin Cree Nation. They were pronounced dead on site.
Investigators say the two were passengers in a vehicle driven by a 30-year-old man from Chemawawin Cree Nation.
The vehicle had stopped on the side of the highway and the pair began walking eastbound while the vehicle followed them.
A second vehicle, driven by a 64-year-old man from The Pas, was travelling westbound and struck the two pedestrians.
RCMP say both vehicles remained at the scene and called police. No other injuries were reported and speed and alcohol are not considered factors.
The Pas RCMP, along with the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team and a forensic collision reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
