A new development in the case of a man from The Pas charged with aggravated assault, in connection with an incident at Clearwater Lake last week.
On Aug. 30, RCMP from The Pas were called to a report of a disturbance at a home on Snake Island Way, and at the scene, they found a seriously injured woman outside the home.
A 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene, while the critically-injured woman was taken to a local hospital, before being airlifted to Winnipeg, where she died of her injuries on Sept. 4.
The death of the 31-year-old woman is being treated as a homicide, and Walter Leach remains in custody, with the charge against him having been upgraded to manslaughter.
Mounties continue to investigate the incident.
