The Swan Valley Stampeders came up just short on Tuesday night, falling 3–2 to the SJHL’s Flin Flon Bombers at the Swan River Centennial Arena.
Nineteen-year-old forward Ben Groome supplied all the offense for the Stampeders, scoring twice to keep his team within reach.
Goaltenders Easton Falls and Elias Giaccari-Dimitriou combined to stop 39 of 42 shots in a solid effort between the pipes in the loss.
The Bombers got goals from Connor Hoemsen and Beck Bethard, before Landon Alexander struck shorthanded in the third period with what proved to be the game-winner.
The rivalry continues later this week as Swan Valley heads north to Flin Flon for the rematch on Thursday at 7:00 p.m from the Whitney Forum.
