A new development in the investigation an assault in the city last week, that sent a woman to hospital.
On Sept. 3, Portage RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a home on 11th Street NW, where they found an injured woman, who told police that a man she knew broke into the home, assaulted her, and fled the scene.
Police note there were children in the home at the time of the incident.
39-year-old Burton “Cody” Campbell, of the Ebb and Flow First Nation, was wanted on charges including assault and break and enter.
Mounties confirm that Campbell is now in custody, after surrendering to Winnipeg Police.

RCMP are searching for an Ebb and Flow First Nation man, wanted in connection with an assault in Portage la Prairie last week.

Shortly before 4 a.m. on Sept. 3, Mounties were called to a home on 11th Street NW on a report of an assault, and at the scene, they found an injured woman.
The victim told police that a man she knew broke into the home, assaulted her, and fled the scene.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment, and police note there were children in the home at the time of the incident.
