Rural and Remote Health Minister Lori Carr is touring health facilities in Canora, Kamsack and Preeceville, meeting with local leaders and frontline staff while highlighting planned investments in the region.
Carr said the visits are part of ongoing efforts to support health care workers and improve services across the province.
“It has been a privilege to meet with leadership and the dedicated front-line staff at health care facilities across the province this summer,” Carr said. “Our government is committed to ensuring safe and efficient workplaces for all health care employees, so that they enjoy coming to work each day, and patients receive the high-quality care they deserve.”
In Kamsack, the provincial government has committed to a series of upgrades at the hospital and regional nursing home over the next two budget years.
That work includes new roofing for the long-term care wing and renovations to the hospital’s foyer. A new roam alert system was installed last year in the long-term care space, with total government investment over three years set at $2.06 million.
The Canora Hospital is also scheduled to receive a new telemetry system this year at a cost of $158,000. The equipment is designed to monitor and assess patients, providing staff with timely information to help guide treatment.
Carr said the government will continue working with communities across Saskatchewan to ensure health care facilities are modern, safe and able to meet growing demands.
