The Kahkewistahaw First Nation is teaming up with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, to launch a new 12-week automotive training program.
The Fundamentals of Automotive Service Technician will be taught by Curtis Brooks, and be offered at Eagle Autowerks, the nation-owned automotive ship in Broadview.
The course, which runs from Sept. 15 to Dec. 5, will provide comprehensive training in automotive service technology, and graduates can earn up to 360 hours of trade time toward their Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship.
KFN Chief Evan Taypotat says the demand for training opportunities in the field is strong, adding that having such opportunities for members close to home will create “sustainable opportunities for our people.”
An official grand opening ceremony will be held Sept. 26 at Eagle Autowerks.
