PREECEVILLE — The Town of Preeceville rec board hosted a fun fall festival that marked the conclusion of the summer season. The event was held at the sports grounds and welcomed everyone to a free-admission evening on Sept. 13.
Activities included pumpkin painting, scarecrow building, a bean bag catapult, horse-drawn rides by Cameron Last of Lintalw, a petting zoo from Good Spirit, and face painting by the Preeceville Nursery School. Free hot chocolate, hot dogs or smokies were available, with barbecued corn on the cob proving to be the highlight.
The evening concluded with a dance featuring music by Prairie Revolt, a new band based out of Preeceville. The Preeceville Senior Pats sponsored the bar portion of the dance.
Prairie Revolt features members from Canora, Buchanan and Preeceville. Matt Tourand, of Preeceville, plays bass guitar and provides back-up vocals; Evan Kushneruk of Buchanan plays guitar and sings; Eric Kuchnernuk of Buchanan is the drummer; Jeremy Negraeff of Canora is the lead guitarist; and Colin Knight of Canora is the lead singer.
The band, formed in 2017, plays a wide variety of cover rock songs, including music from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, along with classic and heavy rock.
“We have played different venues in Canora and the Kelvington area, but this is the first time we have had the privilege to play in Preeceville,” said Tourand.
Tourand also manages the sound and lighting for the band through his business, Default Productions.
