YORKTON — Students at M.C. Knoll School in Yorkton have a new way to learn and play thanks to the efforts of the School Community Council (SCC), families, and local sponsors.
The school has been fundraising toward a $45,000 Outdoor Learning Environment that includes a gazebo, additional seating, and new trees and shrubs to enrich the school grounds.
The bulk of the funds have been raised through the hard work of the SCC, who organized raffles, family events, and other initiatives.
Principal Phil Adams noted that the project has been a true community effort.
“This project reflects what we value most at M.C. Knoll — relationships, growth, and the belief that every student benefits when families and the community work together,” he said.
Local businesses and community members have also stepped forward to provide major sponsorships. N.L. Construction, the project’s Gold Sponsor, committed to a $10,000 contribution, while Bronze Sponsors include McDonald’s Yorkton (through McHappy Day), Red Swan Pizza Yorkton, and Robert and Verene Elmy. Community donations have also been made by SaskEnergy, Terry Ortynsky’s Royal Ford, and Dr. Oloko and Family.
The school anticipates that the project will not only enhance student learning but also create a natural gathering place for the broader community.
“We are grateful for every individual and organization who contributed. This space will serve our Knights for years to come, and it wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our families and community partners,” Adams added.
