DYSART – The community of Dysart is rallying around the family of Cheryl Betham, a local woman killed in a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 639 on Sept. 11.
According to Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP the driver, identified as Cheryl Betham, 29, of Dysart, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A GoFundMe says that her mother, Claudia, and her four children were also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. They survived.
A fundraiser has been launched to support Betham’s husband, Pete, and their four young children, Theo, Veda, Harley and Mia.
The online campaign called In Loving Memory of Cheryl Betham – Support Her Family, was organized by family friend Kara Abel. It aims to help with the financial burden on the family as they navigate their profound loss.
“Cheryl was the heart of her family,” wrote Abel. “She was married to the love of her life, Pete, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter and devotion. She worked tirelessly to achieve her goals, earning her place at the Bank of Montreal after graduating from Saint Augustine Catholic School and Miller High School.
“She leaves behind not only her children and husband but also her baby brother Aaron, her father Mike, her mother Claudia, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who cherished her deeply. Cheryl had that special aura – the kind that made people want to be close to her. Despite the hardships she faced, she always turned challenges into strength and walked through life with her “It is what it is” spirit.
The GoFundMe goal is to raise $15,000 and $10,570 has been raised so far.
