I had lots of fun at the Yorkton Lions 22nd annual Wine, Spirits and Beer Tasting festival at St. Mary’s Cultural Centre last night! And who better to recap the night than the person who was the MC?
The night started off really fun with the DJ playing some great hits while everyone was able to mill about and start their tasting journey. Lots of people checking out the raffle tables, silent auction, and entering into the 50/50 as well.
As MC, I got to go around to every table with the microphone and talk about what drinks they were pouring and serving to the crowd, their favourite drinks, and what people can enjoy from their line of beverages. In total, there were about 16 tables and booths, not all were serving up drinks though. Both Boston Pizza and Mr. Mikes had tents and were serving up some delicious looking food. And there was another booth E.K.K Handmade Store and Gift Shop where people could do some shopping. (I definitely picked up some cool things, including a really cute knitted pumpkin!)
After letting the crowd know about the every vendor there, it was time to introduce the musical entertainment of the night, Troy MacNaughton. He’s quite a talented local guy, and it was him and his guitar for a whole hour. Playing covers that we know and love, and throwing in a couple originals in there as well.
To finish out the night, we drew the names for every raffle prize as well as the silent auction and 50/50 winners. And as the winners walked away with their spoils, the night came to a close with the DJ playing some more great songs.
My personal highlight of the night was when people kept coming up to me, recognizing me as the person who does bingo. That was pretty cool! This was actually my first time at the Yorkton Lions Tasting festival, but something tells me it won’t be my last. 🥂
