The Swan Valley Stampeders watched two separate two-goal leads slip away Tuesday night, as the Waywayseecappo Wolverines mounted a relentless comeback to claim a 7–5 victory on home ice.
Rhett Perrin got the Wolverines on the board midway through the first period, but Swan Valley responded with a goal from Trace Langan to send the teams into the second tied 1–1.
The middle frame turned into a scoring frenzy, with seven goals in a span of just over 15 minutes. Gage Sutherland gave Waywayseecappo a quick lead just 29 seconds in, but the Stampeders roared back with goals from Chantyn Michell-Thompson and Darren Hunt in a 12-second burst. Jaxon Haley added a short-handed tally at 8:21 to make it 4–2.
Waywayseecappo answered with a power-play goal from Perrin—his second of the night—but Gavin Bartha restored Swan Valley’s cushion with a man-advantage marker. The Wolverines responded with two goals in under six minutes, as Cale Livingston and Mikey Thomas each found the back of the net to tie the game 5–5 heading into the third.
The Wolverines’ power play continued to click in the final frame. Sebastien Hicks gave Waywayseecappo the lead at 4:05 with their third power-play goal of the night, and Ben Roulette iced the game with an empty-netter at 17:40.
Goaltender Jase Wareham turned aside 29 shots to earn his third consecutive win, while Easton Falls made 26 saves in the loss for Swan Valley.
The Stampeders return to action on Friday night hosting Virden, while Wolverines head to Steinbach on Friday night to take on the Pistons.
