I don’t know about you, but it’s getting harder to fire up the grill these days—not because of the weather (which has been absolutely perfect), but because the sun is sneaking away earlier and earlier.
The other evening, I decided to throw some steaks on the grill. I thought I was starting supper early… but apparently not early enough. By the time I flipped the last steak, the sun was already sliding below the horizon, and I was cooking in the glow of twilight.
It hit me then—BBQ season is on borrowed time.
But I’m not giving it up without a fight.
This time of year is still too nice to move everything indoors. The air is crisp but comfortable, the bugs have mostly called it quits, and the smell of something sizzling on the grill just feels right. I might have to start grilling with a flashlight—or maybe even break out a headlamp—but I’ll take that over losing these last golden evenings.
So for now, I’ll adjust. Start a little earlier, maybe prep a little faster, and keep my grilling gear ready to go at a moment’s notice. It’s worth it to squeeze every last meal out of patio season.
