SPRINGSIDE — Springside School and its school community council are looking forward to some special events for the upcoming Saskatchewan Education Week.
One of them is a career fair Oct. 23 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. In a press release, it was noted tables have been provided for vendors to showcase career opportunities for students and what makes them exciting and profitable.
The students come into the gym and wander, ask questions, do a little research on their own and enjoy interactive learning.
“They find this opens their eyes to all the possibilities for themselves, and the diversity in our community. We appreciate the different jobs that are available through hard work and dedication.”
This date may not work for a business, so the school is willing to share information with students.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact Rochelle Berrns 306-621-6911 or Penny Castle at 306-792-2080.
The event is part of activities at the school for Education Week from Oct. 19-25. To encourage reading skills and fun, the school dedicates extra time in the morning for students to bring in a blanket and pillow, and enjoy a muffin while just being together. The staff creates stations that allow for more exploration and creativity.
It's also a time to reflect on one's own learning journey. As Springside School is a kindergarten to Grade 8 school, it has a wide variety of students and their passions.
“For more than 30 years, Saskatchewan has dedicated one full week every year to celebrate student success and recognize the dedication and commitment of education professionals across the province,” the press release states.
This year's Education Week theme is Seeds of Learning, Roots to Success.
