It’s a chilly one this morning. I stepped outside and was instantly greeted by that unmistakable bite in the air — the kind that settles in your lungs and wakes you up faster than any cup of coffee. Sure enough, there was frost on the ground, clinging to rooftops, blades of grass, and the last few brave flowers in the planters. Just yesterday I was saying how it finally feels like fall — and here we are.
There’s a crispness in the air now that feels different from the cooler days we had earlier. This isn’t just a breezy day; it’s a seasonal shift. The kind that has you reaching for the thicker coat and maybe even thinking about pulling out the gloves.
We’ve had it pretty good weather-wise lately — warm days hanging on longer than expected, making it easy to pretend summer wasn’t quite done with us. But after last night’s frost, it’s clear: fall is here to stay, and winter isn’t too far behind.
That means it’s time to face one of those annual tasks — cleaning out the planters. The flowers have had their moment, and now it’s time to make way for the quiet rest of winter. The yard needs its final tidy-up, too: leaves to rake, and furniture to store.
So here’s to frosty mornings, warm mugs in cold hands, and the peaceful prep that comes before winter. Ready or not, it’s time.
