The Swan Valley Stampeders struck early but couldn’t hold on, falling 2–1 to the Dauphin Kings on home ice Tuesday night — extending their losing streak to seven games.
Bennett Muller got the Stamps off to a perfect start just 1:19 into the contest, finishing a slick feed from Ethan MacTavish and sliding the puck five-hole for his third goal of the season.
Dauphin answered late in the opening frame when Havryil Simchuk, making his return to the Kings’ lineup, buried a power-play marker off a sharp passing play to tie the game 1–1 after 20 minutes.
Following a scoreless second period, the Kings found the eventual game-winner midway through the third. Sheldon Shyiak’s off-angle shot slipped through the pads of Stampeders goaltender Samuel Bastien, giving Dauphin the edge with just over five minutes to play.
Bastien was solid between the pipes for Swan Valley, turning aside 24 of 26 shots. Bryson Yashcyshyn made 17 saves in the Kings’ net to earn the victory.
The Stampeders will look to regroup when they open a two-game road swing Friday in Steinbach, while Dauphin begins a weekend trip of their own Saturday against the Winnipeg Monarchs.
