WUSKWI SIPIHK FIRST NATION — Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services has launched an investigation after a man was found seriously injured following an assault in Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation earlier this month.
Police say Swan River RCMP were called around 2 a.m. on Oct. 2 after receiving a report of a possible assault in the community.
When officers arrived, they found a 53-year-old man suffering from serious injuries on a nearby roadway. He was taken to the local hospital by police and later transported to Winnipeg, where he remains in critical condition.
RCMP say Major Crime Services assumed control of the investigation on Oct. 6.
No arrests have been made and police have not released further details about the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
