Volleyball
Our volleyball teams have been very active these last few weeks! This year our school has teams in junior girls, junior boys, senior girls, and senior boys.
The junior girls volleyball team travelled to Sturgis on Sept. 20 for their first tournament of the season. They placed first, playing hard and playing five sets back-to-back! Our girls played with great sportsmanship, put in lots of effort and represented Invermay School well!
The junior boys and girls also hosted their home tournament on Sept. 28. The junior girls played three sets each against Sturgis and Norquay. They were undefeated, winning all six sets, placing them in the finals for first place. They played against Sturgis in the finals and won, leaving them in first place overall in the tournament! Great job junior girls! Great job also goes out to the junior boys for their sportsmanship and effort!
The senior girls have attended three tournaments so far this season, growing individually and together after each one. The girls placed fifth in Preeceville on Sept. 12-13, seventh in Melville on Sept. 19-20, and third overall in Wadena on Sept. 26-27. The girls have upcoming tournaments in Foam Lake, Estevan, and Raymore, as well as a min home tournament.
The senior boys volleyball team traveled to Langenburg on Sept. 19-20 for their first tournament of the year, finishing seventh overall. Friday, during round robin play, the boys gained some great experience and had some close and exciting matches, finishing third in their pool. Although the boys came up short in Saturday’s playoff game, they set their goal and finished off the match strong. Way to go senior boys.
Pass, Punt, Kick Competition
The students have been geared up for the Pass, Punt, Kick Competition and their chance to win five tickets to the Oct. 25 Roughrider game against the BC Lions! The progression of competition starts at the local level, then moves to the regional level, with the final Provincial level occurring Oct. 19. Good luck to those competing!
Terry Fox School Run
Invermay School held their Annual Terry Fox School Run on Sept. 25! The SRC also held a theme day on the 25th, and asked all the staff and students to wear green or their Invermay School clothing. Our Terry Fox Run raised $1,452! Thank you to everyone who donated to our annual run!
Cross-country
Our cross country team has attended two meets already this fall. The first meet was in Yorkton’s Deer Park on Sept.15.
