KAMSACK — About 500 items, including quilts of many sizes and designs, bags, small comforters for premature babies, coasters and pot holders, were on display in Kamsack Oct. 10 and 11.

The Heart and Home Quilting Club, which meets weekly at the Westminster Memorial United Church in Kamsack held the Sew Seasonal show at the church’s lower hall as an opportunity for members to display their work, and most of the items were for sale.
A silver collection was held and all visitors were encouraged to select their favourite items so that one quilter would be named the recipient of the viewers’ choice.

Selected as the quilter to have displayed the viewers’ favourite item was Lynda Cherwenuk of Kamsck, who made the quilt entitled A Day at the Lake.
After purchasing a quilt for $275, Rod Gardner, on behalf of the Kamsack Masons, donated the quilt back to the club.
A private donation of $100 was made to the club by Denise Hellegards.
Winner of the main door prize, which was a grey, white and black quilt donated by Linda Scobie, was Sharon Rudy of Kamsack. Two additional prizes of framed antique sewing shadow boxes were won by Pauline Kluchka and Beth Dix, both of Kamsack.
At the show, Adeline Nykolaishen, on behalf of the Kamsack Cancer Self-Help Group, presented $1,000 to the quilting club.
During the season, which is from Sept. – June, members meet at the church each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and spend the afternoon working on their projects. The show included many of the projects members have worked on, and many of the quilted items represented at least one of the four seasons.
