PUNNICHY — Punnichy RCMP say they have determined that injuries sustained by a detachment officer in a two-vehicle collision in June was the result of a driver using a cell phone.
The crash between a marked police car and a truck happened on June 4, around 11 a.m. on Muskowekwan First Nation near the rodeo grounds. Police say their investigation has determined the truck was driving on the wrong lane of the highway and that the man driving was using a cell phone at the time of the collision. He has been issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
