YORKTON – The Soup Haven in Yorkton is the beneficiary of a major donation from Key Auto Group.
Through a promotion with all three dealerships in the group $4,250 was raised and donated to the long-running Soup Haven.
“It’s amazing what this is going to do,” Marilyn Dyck Program Director at Soup Haven, told Yorkton This Week.
Dyck said they must buy the food they turn into lunches for students in the city, adding “every day that costs so much more.”
Dyck said daily they support some 300 students with lunches – 200 with bagged lunches they make and distribute to schools, and 100 through in-school programs where Soup Have supports with food.
A typical bag lunch is a sandwich, fruit, fresh veggie (usually carrots) and a snack, explained Dyck.
The Soup Haven has long been a cornerstone in the Yorkton community, providing nutritious meals and a welcoming space for children and families in need, noted a Key group release. The donation from Key Auto Group will help The Soup Haven continue to deliver its essential services to local residents.
“At Key Auto Group, we believe in supporting the communities that support us,” said Joseph Ortynsky, Director, Key Auto Group in the release. “The Soup Haven does incredible work to ensure that children in Yorkton have access to healthy meals and a caring environment. We’re proud to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile organization, especially during a season focused on gratitude and giving.”
