YORKTON — The City of Yorkton hosted a CAA School Safety Patrol Installation Ceremony Friday in the City Hall Council Chambers.
The event recognized St. Paul’s School Safety Patrollers “for their leadership in promoting crosswalk and school zone safety,” noted a city release.
Nicole Baptist Supervisor, Bylaw & Safety said the ceremony – one of several held in the city recognizing patrollers from all eight elementary schools in the city was a formal opportunity to recognize “all of the great work” the students do in their role.
It was also a chance to “make sure you understand the important work that you do,” Baptist told the 21 students – out of 24 involved at the school – attending the ceremony. “ . . . The work you do as school patrollers is important.”
Mayor Aaron Kienle participated, along with representatives from various supporting organizations.
Kienle told the students their efforts as patrollers was “something we really appreciate.”
School Principal Quinn Haider also had remarks.
“I’m super proud of you,” he said, adding the patrollers help keep some 230 students at the school as the arrive at and leave school each day.

The patrollers in attendance took the CAA Safety Patroller pledge led by Mayor Kienle which stated the patrollers;
* Look, act and be alert
* Report for duty on time
* Always set a good example
* Perform my duties in a calm, firm, respectful, and polite manner
* Use and treat my safety vest and STOP paddle with respect
* Report any concerns or dangerous situations to my coordinator
* Never stop or direct traffic.
