I still can’t believe it. The Toronto Blue Jays are heading to the World Series!
As a lifelong Blue Jays fan, last night was something truly special. I’ve ridden every high and low with this team, through the rebuilding years, the heartbreaks, and the near-misses. But last night, watching the Jays clinch the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners, I felt like a kid again.
The last time we made it to the World Series, I was just 11 and 12 years old — those magical back-to-back championship years in 1992 and 1993. I remember those moments vividly: Joe Carter’s walk-off home run, and how it felt like the entire country was celebrating. It’s one of those childhood memories that sticks with you forever.
Now, decades later, I get to share this moment with my own kids, who are 14 and 17. They’ve grown up Jays fans too, but this is their first time seeing their team make it all the way. Watching their faces light up as the final out was recorded — that’s a memory I’ll treasure forever. This isn’t just about baseball. It’s about family, legacy, and pride in our team and our country.
Last night, I even switched the lights on our house to Blue Jays colours — no Halloween orange and purple this year. The blue, red, and white will be shining bright through the World Series. My neighbors might think I’m over the top, but I know I’m not the only one. This is our time.
Friday can’t come soon enough. The World Series is almost here. Let’s go, boys — let’s bring it home.
GO JAYS GO!
