KAMSACK – Kamsack RCMP are warning residents about a potentially dangerous drug circulating in the community after responding to multiple overdoses over the past two days.
Officers say three overdoses occurred within a single hour on October 29. While no deaths have been reported, first responders required naloxone and other medical interventions.
Police are urging individuals to recognize the warning signs of an overdose, which may include slow, weak or absent breathing, gurgling or choking sounds, blue lips or fingernails and dizziness, confusion or extreme fatigue.
RCMP advise anyone who witnesses these symptoms to stay with the individual and call 911 or their local emergency number immediately.
Legal protections are in place for those who call for help. The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act shields individuals seeking emergency assistance during an overdose, whether they remain at the scene or leave before responders arrive.
Anyone with information on drug trafficking can contact their local detachment at 310-RCMP (7267) or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
