YORKTON — Suncrest College has officially released its new strategic plan, outlining a roadmap that positions the college to meet the challenges of a rapidly-changing world with what the college says is “creativity, adaptability and purpose”.
The plan reflects months of collaboration among staff, learners, industry partners, Indigenous leaders, advisory groups and the board of governors. A news release says the plan also reaffirms the college’s mission to empower learners, support employers and strengthen communities.
“It is with great pride and gratitude that I share Suncrest College’s new strategic plan,” said Suncrest College president and CEO Alison Dubreuil. “The plan reflects a shared vision for our college’s future, shaped through collaboration, dialogue and a deep commitment to the growth, opportunity and connection to those we serve.”
The plan outlines five key strategic goals designed to guide the college’s growth and impact over the next five years: Maximize learner success and impact; foster Indigenous engagement; advance industry, regional and community growth; nurture a transformational culture; and drive digital and infrastructure resource management.
The plan also includes clear goals, timelines and key performance indicators, with ongoing evaluation to ensure progress remains aligned with community needs and emerging opportunities.
“Suncrest College’s commitment to fostering inclusive economic and social prosperity is reinforced by a recent economic impact study conducted by Lightcast. The study found that in the 2023–24 fiscal year, the college contributed $119.8 million in added income to the regional economy, supporting hundreds of local jobs and generating a 21.3 per cent return on investment for taxpayers,” the press release states.
“Suncrest College plays a vital role in preparing learners for success in an evolving workforce,” said Dubreuil. “From digital transformation to shifts in the labour market, this plan positions us to meet change with innovation and purpose that will help build a stronger future for Saskatchewan, one learner and one community at a time.”
Suncrest College has more than 4,500 learners, 350 employees and 11 campuses. It was established in 2023 as a result of merging Cumberland and Parkland Colleges. Locations are in Canora, Esterhazy, Fort Qu’Appelle, Kamsack, Melfort, Melville, Nipawin, Tisdale, and Yorkton.
Students can choose from an array of educational options, including university degrees, skills training diplomas and certificates, trades training, high school upgrading, employability programs, safety training and corporate/professional development, along with taking part in various applied research projects led by the college.
