One of my absolute favourite things about living on the prairies is the sunrises and sunsets. Seriously, nothing compares! If you’ve ever been in Saskatchewan during those golden hours, you know what I mean. The sky just comes alive with colour!
I spent a year in Vancouver while going to college, and while that city has its own kind of beauty, I have to admit…their sunrises and sunsets didn’t even come close to the ones back home. There’s something about the wide-open skies here that makes every sunrise and sunset feel extra special. Maybe it’s the way the colours stretch out forever, or how the whole world seems to pause for those small moments.
There’s a reason Saskatchewan’s license plate tagline is “Land of the Living Skies.” It’s not just a catchy phrase, it’s the truth! The skies here feel vibrant and alive, bursting with colour in ways that always surprise me, no matter how many times I see them. I highly recommend waking up early to catch a sunrise, or making time in the evening to watch the sun go down. It’s one of those simple pleasures that never gets old, and it always makes me feel grateful to call this place home.
