The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) Mid-Term Convention will be in Regina this week.
The convention in November is focused on education and information compared to Annual Convention in the spring where it's more political when provincial leaders make an appearance, says Bill Huber, President of SARM.
The agenda for the two-day event features breakout sessions on government relations and cyber security.
"Cyber threats is something that's becoming more common all the time," Huber said. "I know at SARM we use some of the best protection devices there is available. We encourage our members to, and we're continually educating municipal leaders on some of the things that we can make available to them to help protect and secure their data and their bank accounts especially."
He added the sessions are an opportunity for councillors, reeves, and administrators "to learn and ask questions about things that directly affect the municipalities and the Councillors around the table so that they can better represent their ratepayers in the municipality."
Delegates will hear six presentations from individuals within SARM, Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan, and the Ministry of Justice.
There are 26 resolutions that will be voted on Wednesday afternoon and a list can be found on SARM's website.
Networking opportunities, peer group discussion sessions, and division meetings are also part of the agenda.
The SARM Mid-Term Convention will be held at REAL District Wednesday and Thursday.
