YORKTON — Yorkton conservation officers are investigating the death of a white-tail deer near the city.
Officers received a report Nov. 4 of the dead animal approximately seven kilometres west of Yorkton, near Highway 52.
According to a post on the Sasktip Facebook page, an investigation noted the deer’s throat was cut and was field dressed with the entrails removed. It was left to waste with no meat taken.
The report says officers believe the deer was dumped sometime around Nov. 2. Officers collected evidence at the scene, and the Sasktip report says identifying those responsible is a top priority for the Conservation Officer Service.
