Less than 24 hours after falling 4-1 to the Battlefords North Stars, the Yorkton Terriers bounced back with a 3-2 win in the rematch Saturday afternoon.
Gabriel Courchesne led the way with a three-point performance, capping it off with the game-winner 5:45 into the third period. Linemates Jye Zawatsky and William Leonard also found the back of the net as the Terriers wrapped up their road swing with a 2-2 record.
Finlay Klippenstein and Adam Konowalchuk replied for the North Stars, while Terriers goaltender Alexandro Montoya made 28 saves for his fourth win of the season.
Yorkton now heads into a break before returning to action November 21st against the Melville Millionaires.
Elsewhere in the SJHL, the Weyburn Red Wings got a measure of revenge with a 5-2 victory over the Melville Millionaires, one night after dropping an overtime heartbreaker.
Affiliate netminder Nate Stevens made 33 saves for his second win in as many starts, while Lucas Schmid powered the Wings’ offence with his fourth three-point night of the season, including his team-leading 10th goal. Aidan Mohan, Trennen Redlick, Bryson Carlyle, and Josh Sale also scored for Weyburn.
Rylan Oatman and Kale Margolis tallied for Melville, who return home Tuesday to face the Estevan Bruins.
In Kindersley, Ethan Sautner scored twice and later passed up a hat-trick opportunity to set up Pryce Thiessen’s empty-netter, helping the Klippers finish a weekend sweep of the Warman Wolverines with a 6-3 win.
Brock Evans’ late first-period power-play marker stood as the game-winner as the Klippers erupted for three goals in just three minutes to open the contest. The two teams combined for 22 goals over the weekend, with Kindersley also earning a 9-4 victory on Friday night.
