Bunge has divested five of its grain elevators in Western Canada.
Bunge notes in a news release Friday it's part of a commitment made with the federal government in order to receive regulatory approval for its merger with Viterra.
They add the facilities were acquired by local companies.
Direct Grain Limited acquired the Dixon, Saskatchewan site; Linear Grain Inc purchased the Fannystelle, Manitoba site; and BP & Sons Grain and Storage Inc bought the Beausejour, Tucker, and Coulter, Manitoba sites.
Bunge also says a tentative agreement has been reached to sell the sixth and final facility in Valparaiso, Saskatchewan, pending approval from the Minister of Transport. The deal is expected to close shortly after approval is given, the company added.
"As part of Bunge’s agreement with the Canadian government, these facilities have been held separate from the rest of Bunge’s business and run by an independent Hold Separate Manager since July 2, and the hold separate and sales process for all six facilities has been monitored by a government-approved third party." the company said in the news release.
Bunge also divested its facility in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan to F.W. Cobs, but say its separate from the commitment made with the federal government.
