The 36th annual Grain Millers Harvest Showdown wrapped up on Saturday afternoon in Yorkton.
The highlight was the Commercial Cattle Sale.
Volunteer Brett Callin says the Commercial Cattle Show and Sale Committee, was pleased with the results.
He says they had lots of bidders in attendance, both in person and online.
There were seven pens of three bred heifers for sale.
Prices ranged as high as $7100 per animal, while the lower end was in the $5800 area.
The sale averaged in the $6450 range.
Callin notes one producer said that was the kind of price he was getting for a top-end bull a few years ago.
He says optimism is really high in the cattle industry right now.
Callin adds the Commercial Cattle Show and Sale Committee will be holding a wrap-up meeting next week, to look at how the event went this year, and to start planning for next year.
