Last night was one for the books! James Barker Band rolled into Yorkton for their Bud Light Buckle Up Tour, and let me tell you, I’m so happy I decided to go. I’ll admit, I was on the fence about it all day, but I can honestly say it was my favourite concert in Yorkton yet!
I arrived a little late and just caught the last few songs from Ryan and Rory, their opening act, but wow, those guys were great! The stage was a bit on the smaller side for them, but they worked it like pros and sounded fantastic. My only tiny complaint? No merch from them (apparently it didn’t make the trip), but their performance definitely made up for it.

Then it was time for the main event: James Barker Band! The second they took the stage, the energy in the Anne Portnuff Theater was buzzing. I loved the giant belt buckle sign and the raised platforms, which made it so easy to see everyone from wherever you were sitting. And the music? Even better live than on the radio! Every song sounded amazing.

There was a moment when James and Taylor (who plays guitar and keys) did a few covers, just the two of them on the stage. I already knew James could sing, but Taylor’s vocals blew me away! The band even got everyone singing along, and I have to say, Yorkton sounded like a choir. Seriously, it was the best crowd singalong I’ve ever heard, and even the band joked, “You’re hired, but we can’t pay you!” On top of all that, the band kept us laughing with their jokes (the irony of the BUD LIGHT tour at a High School was not lost on them) and little stories between songs. By the end of the night, my voice was hoarse from singing and my cheeks hurt from smiling.
All in all, it was an unforgettable night. If you ever get a chance to see the James Barker Band live, take it! I’m already hoping they come back to Yorkton soon.
@gx94radio I feel bad if you missed out on James Barker Band here in Yorkton last night. They were so good! And so were their openers, Ryan and Rory. -Olivia . . . #concert #jamesbarkerband #ryanandrory #countrymusicconcert #saturdaywellspent
