REGINA — Canadian Western Agribition creates millions in economic activity for the provincial economy each year, according to statistics from Praxis Consulting Inc.
The most recent economic numbers for Agribition come from Praxis following the 2023 event.
It shows the week-long livestock event brought in $116.5 million in economic activity to the province, including $69.6 million to the provincial GDP.
Government revenues back then totalled $19.6 million, including $10 million federal, $9.3 million provincial, and $360 thousand municipal.
Business during the show at the time was also good: there were over $998 thousand in trade show booth sales, $1.9 million in trade show vendor sales, and $2.2 million in livestock sales.
The event in 2023 also provided 1081 jobs in the province and 212 locally. Agribition said in a news release roughly one in every 650 jobs in the Regina area depends on the event, directly or indirectly.
CEO of Agribition Shaun Kindopp says they don't take those numbers for granted.
"Any time that you can get restaurants giving you a phone call saying they've had record years and just thanking you for having your event is something that we're very proud of," Kindopp said during an interview with SaskAgToday on Nov. 6. "Anytime you can use your platform to bring people into your city and get them out, show it off a little bit is something we never take for granted and we're proud of the role we can play."
The 2025 edition of Canadian Western Agribition runs Monday through Saturday, Nov. 24-29. More information, including tickets and schedule of events, can be found on the Agribition website.
