The Melville Millionaires opened their three-game road swing with a 3–0 shutout victory over the Warman Wolverines on Wednesday night.
Melville struck early, just 4:04 in, when Keil Schmalz fired a point shot through traffic that beat a screened Taye Timmerman for his third of the season, putting the Mils up 1–0 after one.
The power play finally connected in the second period. Rylan Oatman threaded a pass to Kale Margolis back-door, and he hammered home his team-leading 12th to extend the lead to 2–0 after 40 minutes.
Margolis added more insurance in the third, converting on a partial break for his second of the night and sealing the win.
Matthew Spencer-Dahl was perfect in his SJHL debut, stopping all 23 shots for his first league win and first shutout. Timmerman made 26 saves for Warman in the loss.
Melville gets Thursday off before finishing the trip with back-to-back games in Battlefords on Friday and Saturday.
Elsewhere in the SJHL:
– Konnor Watson recorded a hat trick and Jack Janzen scored twice as Nipawin doubled up Kindersley 6–3.
– Preston Patenaude made 33 saves, and Josh Sale and Roan Burgess each had a goal and an assist as Weyburn opened their road trip with a 4–2 win in Melfort.
