The Melville Millionaires picked up their second straight win on their three-game road swing, knocking off the Battlefords North Stars 3–1 on Friday night.
Brayden Gourley got things started early, burying his first SJHL goal in the opening period to give Melville a 1–0 lead.
The North Stars answered in the second when Anthony Campbell struck to even the score at 1–1, but Gourley wasn’t done. The Mils forward added his second of the night midway through the third, which stood up as the game-winner.
Just minutes later, Preston Baerwald provided some insurance, finishing off a Jackson Lee cross-ice pass to extend the lead to 3–1.
Between the pipes, newcomer Matthew Spencer-Dahl was rock-solid once again, turning aside 28 of 29 shots to earn his second straight win in a Millionaires uniform. At the other end, North Stars netminder Steele Bass also impressed, stopping 30 of 33.
The two clubs will meet again on Saturday night at the Access Communications Centre in North Battleford to wrap up the weekend set.
