YORKTON – The Yorkton Terriers went west for a pair of SJHL on the weekend, playing twice in Kindersley.
Friday the teams started with a close opening 20-minutes.
Dylan Ruff with his first of the campaign gave Yorkton an early lead with a goal 2:26 in.
Avery Johnson tied things with a Klipper goal at 17:09.
The home side inched ahead in the second with Mason Eggen scoring an unassisted effort at 8:43. It would be the only goal scored in the frame.
The Klippers added to the lead with two early third period efforts; Ethan Sautner at 1:08, and Pryce Thiessen at 4:45.
Gabriel Courchesne gave the Terriers hope with a goal at 11:05 to make it 4-2, but that would be it for scoring by either team and the Kindersley fans went home satisfied with a win.
Brett O’Halloran was in net for the Klippers facing 33 shots in the win.
Terrier netminder Alexandro Montoya was tagged with the loss facing 38-shots.
The teams were back on the ice for another contest Saturday, and it was a similar start.
Yorkton took a 1-0 lead at 4:29 on a goal by William Leonard.
And as was the case Friday the Klippers would tie it before the end of the opening frame. It was Luke Ridgway scoring at 10:24.
This night the second would prove to be a scoreless affair.
The third was also thin in the third period with only one goal. Gabriel Courchesne scored what was the game-winner for Yorkton at 8:16.
Callum Creig recorded the win in the Terrier net facing 27 shots.
Mattias Radke dealt with 47 shots in the loss for the Klippers.
