The CPKC Holiday Train rolled through Yorkton this past weekend, and what an experience it was! Even though it was a chilly -24°C (and that’s not even including the wind chill), the turnout was fantastic. It was heartwarming to see so many families and kids bundled up, all excited to catch a glimpse of the holiday train.
A special shoutout goes to the wonderful folks handing out free hot chocolate. It was truly a lifesaver for everyone braving the cold while we waited. The train itself was decorated in festive lights, and while the sunshine made it tough to see them sparkle, the real magic happened when the main train car transformed into a stage. The big green sign on the side dropped down and became the stage!

Teigen Gayse and Jade Eagleson were absolutely fantastic! They kept the energy high and the crowd entertained, never letting the cold slow them down. I wish I could say the same for myself! I’ll admit, the freezing weather did get to me. I had to retreat to my car to warm up my numb legs (thank goodness for heated seats!), but I still left with a big smile and some great memories.
All in all, it was a wonderful show, and I’m already looking forward to seeing the CPKC Holiday Train roll through Yorkton again (hopefully on a slightly warmer day next time)! Did you make it out to see the train? I’d love to hear your favourite moments in the comments!
