Will Lutic and Yorkton Terriers defenceman Thomas Ries each scored power-play goals, but Alexander Command’s two-goal effort powered Sweden past Canada West 6–2 in the opening game of the 2025 Junior A World Challenge in Trois-Rivières, Quebec.
Adam Nomme, Nils Bartholdsson, and Bosse Meijer added singles for Sweden, while goaltender Viggo Tamm stopped 29 shots in the victory.
Canada West goalie Taye Timmerman of the Warman Wolverines turned aside 39 of 44 shots in the loss.
Canada West aims to bounce back Monday at 6:00 p.m. against Canada East, while Sweden meets the United States in the early game.
