NORTH CENTRAL SASKATCHEWAN — A period of very cold wind chills is expected in parts of Saskatchewan, says Environment Canada.
Very cold temperatures and wind chill values near minus 40 will occur Thursday night in areas around:
- Meadow Lake;
- Lloydminster;
- Unity/Wilkie;
- The Battlefords;
- Saskatoon;
- Rosetown;
- Outlook;
- Kindersley; and
- Eston.
The cold will moderate in some areas Friday afternoon but return Friday night. Cold and wind chill values near minus 40 will end by Saturday afternoon, says Environment Canada.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.
Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
